Rice is back!

I've managed to get my hands on a very small amount of Rice melamine cups and plates. The cups were always a best seller on Poppet in the Post and now I have some plates available too. They are available now in very limited quantities, get in quick, these are a hot seller! Once these sell I may not be able to get any more as there is no longer an Australian distributor for this awesome Danish brand.

Please remember to enter the discount code at the checkout to receive your 20% discount.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and thanks for reading...

This time of the year can be very stressful for a lot of people, it's all too easy to become self involved and get wound up by trivial things like present buying or car park rage. So breathe in, breathe out, and reflect on all the good things you have in your life, the challenges you may have overcome this year and what's really important to you.

I visited a friend yesterday who's father is very ill and will spend her Christmas in hospital, it made me reflect on how lucky I am to have a healthy family that I love, and care about me too. Another is struggling with fertility issues and is expecting the worst news yet again on Christmas Eve, what she wouldn't give to have a beautiful little girl like Emma.
So today I'm grateful for the simplest things that I usually take for granted.

I would also like to say thanks for reading my blog this year and supporting My Poppet with your purchases, comments and e-mails. The business has undergone so many changes in 2010, and I'm grateful for your continued support. I can't wait to get stuck into 2011.

I'll be taking a little bloggy and social media holiday for a couple of weeks, but the shop is still open - business as usual.

Have a Safe and Happy Christmas and holiday period. Laugh, eat and enjoy your loved ones.
See you in the new year
xx Cinti

Animation Friday - Ho Ho Ho!

Welcome to the last animation Friday of the year, I'll be taking a little bloggy break soon, feel free to join in with a festive themed animation right through to the new year. Maybe even a Christmas morning unwrapping the presents one? Now that would be fun.

Emma is a little resistant to her nap today so she is sitting on my lap pointing to the funny Santa, and frowning at me when I say its 'Emma'!

Here are some simple instructions on how to make moving pictures... Post it to your blog and link here so we can all see. Remember to link back to this post so your other readers can join in to. Feel free to grab a little button for your sidebar.
Merry Christmas and thanks for joining in on Animation Friday this year,
xx Cintia & Emma

Do Re Me...

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I had a fortuitous meeting with Madeleine, the creative brain and owner of Do Re Me, a gallery/retail/studio space in Elsternwick.

I'd stumbled on it by accident a few day after it's opening last week. Got chatting to Madeline, discovered we'd actually met in my old shop, yada yada yada, mutual admiration, and now you can find My Poppet stocked at Do Re Me!

The basic store concept for Do Re Me is to maintain Product With Conscience, and to celebrate the magnificent talents of local artisans and artists who produce Homegrown, Homesewn things that make you feel good.

Madeleine says "Customers who chance upon me (or flock to my shores) will find product with difference and wonderful one-offs, and they can spend awhile instore to read the story of where things came from and why, and trace the chain back. I am also a stockist for a select range of Oxfam Fairtrade product, and plan to build a creative hub down in Horne Street, with workshops, small gallery shows, events, VIP nights, and whatever else serendipity and the community sends my way!"

The space is large and airy, and has a studio/room in the back where craft classes are planned for next year. I'm really looking forward to creating some special pieces especially for the store.

Time to stop and smell the flowers...

Aren't these just the most perfect orchids you have ever seen? I took them from Mr Man's Christmas party function...I'm turning into my mother, she always walks out with the floral arrangements.

Anyway I'll get to the point...when do we really have time to 'Stop and smell the flowers?'
I have been reflecting on this today. You see I've had a few market events in the past few weeks which have all been super hard work and unfortunately a big disappointment. I know my stuff is pretty awesome, but when you spend weeks making stuff, get up at 6am, pack and unpack the car several times all to come home with not much to show, your ego takes a big blow. It makes me wonder why I put my self through it all?

And then today I had the most fortuitous meeting with a store owner who cleared me out of quite a lot of my stock for her new shop. Will blog about it soon.

So today's decision to cancel next Sundays market and all my 2011 bookings has left me feeling a little giddy.
I'll need to take my hay fever tablets this week because I'll be sniff sniff sniffing those flowers, enjoying my freedom and lack of commitments. I now feel free to create for real!

Expect some interesting things here soon, maybe not 'marketable' but that's the whole idea...

sisters market, tommorow...

I almost forgot to mention I'll be at the St Kilda town hall tomorrow (10am-4pm) with a little stall at the sisters market. It will be jam packed with great handmade wares, so it's the ideal place to tick off all those hard to buy people off your Christmas list.

The Sister's market is also supporting the Salvation Army Christmas appeal and are encouraging shoppers to donate an unwrapped gift for distribution to needy families. You can bring a gift from home or even nicer, donate a handmade gift purchased from the market.
I'll be donating something too...

Animation Friday - Dancing Santa!

What a Jolly little character this Santa is. Looking all resplendent in his red flocked suit, but unfortunately it looks like he ate too much pudding because his belt has let go! you can buy him here.

We took Emma to visit Santa for the annual Christmas photo, she was unconvinced by the bearded stranger and I had to be in the photo this year too. Lucky I'd worn some make up that day...

Here are some simple instructions on how to make moving pictures...Go on have a play, you've got all week. Post it to your blog and link here so we can all see. Remember to link back to this post so your other readers can join in to. Feel free to grab a little button for your sidebar.

Handmade Christmas...

I was very happy with my decision this year to limit gifts only to children and made by hand...the thought of not having to battle the crowds had already reduced my stress levels by a thousand. Emma even helped make the wrapping paper, I think it looks super pretty.
So only 3 gifts to worry about in total, 2 made by me and another beautiful handmade gift arrived from France last week. When the rain lets up I'll post them to their lucky recipients.
As another stress relieving measure, we (as a family) have also decided to not do the crazy Christmas day run around. Parents/grandparents/uncles/cousins and aunts, will all eventually get their little piece of us I suppose, all in good time and not in one day. I'm really looking forward to a quiet day at home, a picnic at the park or a day at the beach...and a sleep in if I'm lucky!

Animation Friday - Whirl...

Spent the morning out and about today (hence the tardy animation), Emma and I went to visit some friends at a market/fair where this colourful windmill toy caught our attention, and then off to story time at the library where Emma stole the show with her dancing and free hugs and kisses for all...finally the sun is out in Melbourne - It's starting to feel like summer.
I've tried to capture the spirit of the day in this little animation.

Here are some simple instructions on how to make moving pictures...Go on have a play, you've got all week. Post it to your blog and link here so we can all see. Remember to link back to this post so your other readers can join in to. Feel free to grab a little button for your sidebar.
