Productive...

My little sewing machine has been going non-stop for the last couple of days. I'm pretty happy with how my projects turned out. I specially love the quilt made only from Vintage bed linen (hence lots of pics). Don't look too closely at the un-matching corners, accurate cutting is not my forte. I made it with a fleece back rather than batting so I can throw it in the washing machine.
I've been sleeping with this cute little steiner/waldorf doll so it takes on my smell, hopefully it will comfort the baby when i can't be around.
I also made these pram liners for my new Mountain Buggy Swift. It's narrower than a lot of other prams on the market so standard pram liners won't fit. I drafted a pattern with all of the appropriate strap holes. They turned out better than i expected.
I used vintage pre-quilted fabric and 2 layers of polar fleece. They are reversible and machine washable, yay!
The orange floral fabric was a remnant mum had kept since I was a girl. And now, a picture of me and my big belly! I'm going to miss it, i think.Have a great weekend, Cintia

ANZAC day...public holiday

The shop will be closed for trade on Anzac day - Sat 25th April.
That was my original due date but every time I had a scan the dates kept on moving. Dr's visit today, he thinks I'll probably go over, which is fine by me. I haven't even got my hospital bag packed yet!
The baby is already so spoilt. Look at some of the lovely gifts she has received from friends that you may know...
Beautiful Oobee blanket from Leslie...
Gorgeous Owl artwork from Monique...

Having fun...

Finally having a little bit of fun at home in my new creative space. Today I've finished some hair clips for the shop...made some brooches as well...Whilst I had the button jars out, I thought I'd try something a little different and make some vintage button hair clips...
this one is my favorite... I'll deliver the clips to the shop tommorow if anyone is super keen.Managed to make 2 fitted cot sheets for the baby, she was kicking as i was sewing, must have known it was something for her...I picked up this lion cushion from and Oppy a while ago, he reminds me of a project in one of mum's old craft books that I used to look through endlessly as a girl.
Cushion can't stay in her cot of course, am on the look out for a little vintage chair for it to sit on.
Now off to make a pram liner...

Back to the real world!

Yay, finally have a phone and Internet connection at home! So many blogs to catch up on, but no time at the moment. Must get things ready for the baby. My belly is sitting a little lower now so she can't be far away. Need to make lots of things for her this week now that my sewing room is finally set up (but not very organised).
Picture of the non-messy bits here...
I'm hoping to make her a few sets of fitted cot sheets from some pretty floral vintage bed sheets I picked up a while a go, a small quilt (no time for hand stitching), a pram liner and a couple of change mat covers...One week before I'm due, what are the chances of having it all ready?
Still haven't come up with any names yet, nothing seems to fit. Maybe when we meet her. Suggestions welcome.
The new house is relatively organised for now with only little jobs to do. Like any new home it will probably be a work in progress for years to come.
My hands haven't been totally idle though... I've been stitching together these lovely crochet squares into pram blankets for the shop. I had to stop mum from knitting beanies because I had so many, so she started making squares in stead...
I'll keep you all posted on any developments re: The Baby

38 weeks and 1 day...

The girls at the shop have been getting lots of enquiries in regards to my impending 'confinement'. Well, nothing seems to be happening yet. A few weeks for waiting to go yet! I still have my belly button, just, and fingers crossed, no stretchmarks yet.
I am very round and was asked by a friends child if i had a ball under my jumper, so funny!

Anyway, here are some great model shots of some of the Monster stock available now!

Favorite things... for today

Must apologize for the huge gaps in between posts. I've moved house and am living in the dark ages without a phone line or internet connection. Have been popping into the shop most days as I'm finding it hard to stay home and just relax!
These are my current favorites- Handmade Waldorf dolls on Poppet in the Post

Beautiful Velvet capes by Cherry Stew, I love the scalloped edges and vintage buttons

Too cute...

I love how these little giraffes peer out of the top of the jar with their long skinny necks...
